Update on our appeal in the 9th Circuit Volkswagen Diesel Fraud Case

The Appellate Panel consolidated our Bosch appeal with the Volkswagen appeal and a decision should be announced soon.  If successful the appeal would set aside the largest consumer fraud settlement in history while leaving Volkswagen on the hook.  The settlement allowed Volkswagen to "hide and conceal" claims from the Court and Settlement Master Robert Mueller.
We filed an action in Butte County yesterday with the intent of having a jury decide punitive damages. We would be the first party to bring the defeat device case to jury trial.  Peer reviewed studies proved thousands of people with lung diseases died from the fraud.

Postal Sorting to Medford & Humboldt Online Businesses

Posted by Fred Fletcher on Wednesday, November 26, 2014
Locals are upset about our postal sorting facility moving to Medford, and rightly so.  The move to Medford may delay local first class deliveries, meaning delayed prescriptions and election ballots.  Several clients have asked if the move will impact outgoing mail for Humboldt based businesses who ship nationally or internationally.

After making some phone calls, and researching postal routes, I am convinced the move will not impact shipments destined outside Humboldt. For packages sent outside the Humboldt area sorting the mail in Medford does not necessarily increase the miles a package travels. When a package is sent from Humboldt to New York it makes no difference if the package is sorted in Humboldt, Medford, or Cleveland.

The few online businesses here in Humboldt, including our own, ship outside Humboldt.  Over 99.67% of our shipments are destined outside of Humboldt county.  A business which ships mostly outside of Humboldt should not be concerned about the postal consolidation.

Local businesses should attempt forming a shipping co-op agreement to receive volume discounts from Fed Ex or UPS to offset local shipment delays.  The more a business ships the greater discount they receive from a shipper.  Most small businesses in Humboldt do not ship enough product to obtain a volume discount.  By forming a shipping agreement co-op small businesses can obtain the discounted buying power of larger businesses.
